Established in 1926, the Roslindale Board of Trade is the community's prime business network. The organization gives a strong voice to business both within the community and the city. It is an effective support for member businesses and their products and services and offers many opportunities for business networking. As one of the oldest business associations in Boston, the Board of Trade is a vital and active organization in the community. This growth mirrors the economic vitality and recent rennaissance of Roslindale.

The Board of Trade's purpose is to better the community through commerce. This means that the RBT offers benefits directly to its own members and to the community. Membership benefits include monthly meetings with an exciting array of educational, community, and social events; a business directory, monthly newsletters, website, discounted health insurance, reciprocal memberships to other business organizations, discounted advertising and timely information about important activities and trends that affect business operations in Roslindale, such as parking, new developments, and special local events.

Roslindale Board of Trade celebrates its 80th Birthday

An article from the Bulletin

December 12th at the Sons of Italy in Roslindale, MA, the Roslindale Board of Trade celebrated its 80th birthday anniversary.  The night began with a wonderful live band singing some great tunes as people shared stores, danced, and munched on delicious Thai and American cuisine provided from local restaurants.

Just as things began settling in, the band took a break and RBT President, Lisa Modecker welcomed everyone and thanked all the people who make the night possible special thanks to Bob Norberg and Judie Leon for their contributions for selling so many tickets to the event. Also a special kudos went to Steve O'Malley for making his many contributions 365 days a year!   Modecker then introduced Danny's long-time life-partner who then read a statement written by her which talked about Roslindale's long tradition of cultural diversity and openness and holding a 360 degree vision of our community.  He then introduced Danny, a local Thai restauranteur, who offered a traditional Thai dance of happiness with full traditional dress. The performance was well-received and when Danny was done received a warm applause from the party .

Some of the other highlights were the live Rhythm & Blues performance by The Common Ground. The exquisite chocolate fountain and fruit spread décor prepared by Café Apollonia, Executive Chef, Marlon Hysi, the amazing appetizers and vegetarian dishes prepared and provided by Danny Titisuttikul, The Bangkok Café. And Steve O'Malley's of MJ's prepared trays of scrumptious shish kabobs and other fabulous culinary creations. And of course no celebration is complete without a cake, Joe Murphy from A. Boschetto's Bakery provided a one of a kind celebratory cake. There was a bountiful presence of poinsettia's floral arrangements created by local owned florists, Stephanie and Cookie of This N That Flowers, which made the evening much more colorful along with the bright red festive linens that were furnished by Alice's Linens. David Gladstone RBT Vice President announced the winners of the raffle and gave a special champagne toast which was provided by Tremont Credit Union which brought a lot of cheer.

All in all, a good time was had by all and the Roslindale Board of Trade is poised to move forward in the next 80 years in a new and more diverse and inclusive way!
